Ice Dream in the Heart of Vienna – Skating with the Rathaus as a Backdrop
Between the festively illuminated Vienna City Hall and the Burgtheater, visitors can experience a magical winter highlight: the Ice Dream at the Christkindlmarkt. Glide across over 3,000 m² of perfectly smooth ice and along 300 m of “dream paths” through the romantic Rathauspark, surrounded by music, lights, and the scent of Christmas. Whether beginner or pro, with your own or rented skates, skating here becomes a true winter fairy tale.
Fun on Ice for Little Ones
On the safe children’s ice rink, little skaters can take their first steps on the ice – separated from the main rink and with helpful learning aids. Warmed skates are available for rent on-site, ensuring a fun winter experience for all.

For the little ones, there are adjustable double blades/skates (sizes 21–25) and children’s helmets (while stocks last). To borrow double blades and helmets this year, you will need a free ticket, which is available at the ticket offices on site.
A deposit of €50 or the voluntary surrender of an ID card is required for all rental items – ice skates, locker keys, double blades or helmets. The deposit or ID card will be returned in full after all rented items have been returned.
Tickets for ice skates, locker keys or sharpening services are available at the ticket offices and vending machines on site or online at a 10% discount.
Lockers
Store shoes, bags, or backpacks safely in our lockers (38×31×42 cm) and enjoy skating worry-free. Cost: 3.20€ on-site or 2.90€ online. Keys are available at the skate rental with a valid ticket and 50 deposit€; lost keys incur a 20€ replacement fee. Lockers are accessible only during rink hours and close 15 minutes after the ice closes.
Skate Sharpening Service
Dull skates can spoil the fun – luckily, a sharpening service is available on-site, quickly restoring your blades depending on demand. Tip: pass the waiting time with a warm punch or a stroll through the Vienna Christkindl Market.
