The Duhallow Choral Society was founded by Brigid Daly in Newmarket, Cork on 6 March 1996 with the aim of promoting choral music and culture in the Duhallow region. With around 90 members, the choir sings church, pop, classic and traditional music with television coverage. It has performed on prestigious stages in Austria and abroad – including in Belgium, Rome, New York and Chicago – and has sung for eminent figures such as President Michael D. Higgins, Senator Hillary Clinton and Mayor Rahm Emanuel. Sharon Reidy from South Africa has been directing the choir with great empathy since 2007.
